POSITION OVERVIEW
Episcopal High School is seeking a Director of Campus Safety & Security to provide for the security and protection of all students, faculty, staff, families, facilities and property of Episcopal High School (EHS).
This person is responsible for developing programs and providing services which will promote, and are responsive in, maintaining a safe environment for all members of the EHS community. The Director of Campus Safety & Security supports a safe educational and residential community by coordinating an integrated and responsive safety and security operations program. A key role is to provide emergency preparedness and response.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Responsible for hiring, developing, training and management of all Campus Security Officers while ensuring they are performing at the highest level
- Evaluating the School’s security and safety programs on a continuing basis and recommend/implement changes to them as necessary
- Responsible for all fire, life, and emergency control systems and inspections making sure that they function at the highest level
- Manage CCTV, card access, alarm, emergency phones, and all related security systems/equipment
- Acting as a liaison with local public safety authorities to ensure that the School has a strong working relationship with them
- Responsible for investigating, reporting and following-up investigations of either civil or criminal nature, at the direction of School Administration
- Assisting in the ongoing development and implementation of the School’s Emergency Response Plan
- Working with administrators, faculty, staff and students to ensure that proper security and safety measures are implemented
- Working closely with the Business Office to manage the School’s risk from a property and casualty insurance perspective
- Maintaining information on best practices relative to school security and safety
- Preparing and administering the department budget
- Administering and effecting changes to all physical security, access control, and campus camera systems.
- Event management
- On call for all campus emergencies and respond to all emergencies and suspicious activities on campus taking appropriate action
- Perform multiple inspections of campus property and facilities on a daily basis

Requirements & Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess:
- Experience working in law enforcement.
- Experience with emergency planning and incident management, to include familiarity with the Incident Command System.
- Demonstrated knowledge in critical incident response and current technology and communication systems.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a high pressure and fast paced environment.
- A relevant Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of experience and training with 3-5 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a campus environment
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills, including the ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- A high proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite software
- Experience managing projects, schedules, budgets and resources.
- A familiarity with computerized management systems
- Excellent interpersonal relationship and community-building skills.
- Ability to use discretion and good judgment in a variety of circumstances with proven ability to effectively, continuously and discretely work with confidential and potentially sensitive information.
Other Qualifications:
- A valid driver’s license.
- All prospective employees must be able to clear a background check, state and federal clearances and TB screening.
Physical Requirements
Work is performed inside and outside the building with exposure to inclement weather and unpredictable crisis situations and candidate must be flexible with working hours and working conditions, including:
- Ability to walk for long periods of time around campus
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
- Ability to climb stairs
- Ability to sit at a desk working on a computer
